BYDP Projects > Accreditation and Moderation
Aims
Since its inception in 1999, one of BYDP’s primary
aims has been the implementation of innovative
programmes of work that engage young people/adults.
Many have had negative experiences of compulsory
education. However, with appropriate help and
support, they can achieve nationally recognised
qualifications and have access to further higher
education and employment opportunities that would
otherwise be difficult for them.
BYDP work in partnership with National Open College
Network (NOCN) to offer a flexible learning route to
suit the needs of our learners. The introduction of
Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) which
replaces National Qualifications Framework (NQF)
means that the NOCN system of credit based learning
has gone mainstream for all awarding bodies. The
NOCN Qualifications In Progression are designed to
meet the needs of the Foundation Learning Tier (FLT)
Progression Pathways. The Skills Towards Enabling
Progression (Step-up) qualifications are approved
for 14 plus and are particularly appropriate for
schools as they carry performance points. The FLT is
being piloted for another year with a wider
selection of Centers and many of these are using
NOCN qualifications.
