Youth Ambitions project aims to equip 18 young people to work as volunteer peer leaders and engage them in delivering a range of fun sessions and holiday activities throughout Manningham and the Bradford West area. 25 young people have joined up so far!
More activities on offer
Youth activities will use local facilities e.g. church halls, parks, community centres and deliver educative, sports, arts, health and wellbeing, rights and responsibilities activities. Activities will include awareness raising activities linked to priority groups and all will be accessible to people with disabilities.
Being a peer leader
Peer leaders will have an enhanced disclosure and barring list check (DBS). They develop a personal plan, and receive tailored 1-1 support. Their training programme includes exploring the values, ethos and principles of youth work, safeguarding, child protection, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, professional practice. Peer leaders will take formal and informal accreditations.
This could be perfect for You!
The project aims to give young people a valuable leadership opportunity and to gain accreditation for their skills and experiences. Peer leaders have opportunities to better understand people who are different from them, challenging judgmental attitudes and improving community cohesion.
