Who We Are

Salima Hafejee
Director
Over the past seven years Bradford Youth Development Partnership has been through the process of design and delivery of innovative projects and programmes to impact on the lives of young people/young adults for positive change. It has been committed to collaborative partnership working with the statutory and other voluntary sector organisations and agencies for a bespoke service which assists young people to make informed decisions.
Bradford Youth Development Partnership has developed the traineeship model of the Youth Team programme which has been replicated by other Local Authorities and been placed on the Home Office website as Good Practice and been highlighted in several publications as positive case studies. As a charitable youth organisation it is well versed with the aims set out in the Every Child Matters/Youth Matters: Change for Children agenda and the Government Respect Agenda and its commitments of these to the practice with children and young people.
BYDP has through bidding, submitting funding applications and being commissioned to implement designed programmes of work under the following five strands:
- Employment/training.
- Alternative qualification/accreditation.
- Diversionary and personal development.
- Crime prevention/intervention.
- International and volunteering opportunities.
BYDP is an approved Accreditation Centre (NOCN). Since its inception in 1999, one of BYDPs primary aims has been the implementation of innovative programmes of work that engage young people/adults, many of whom have had negative experiences of compulsory education to then achieve nationally recognized qualifications and to have access to further higher education and employment opportunities that would otherwise be non-accessible to them.
Equally important, the programmes have enlisted young people/adults to take responsibility for their own learning. BYDP as an umbrella organisation is supporting the infrastructure of the voluntary sector by providing support and training to accredit young people/adults accredited learning and development.
